the quick slap slap of the brush on canvas
leaves the artist to ponder the deep thoughts
like the ocean ponders its breath
Breathe in,
water pulls away with sand particles
twirling in it's surface
Breathe out,
water breaks on shore with an unexpected force
the mimicry between painter and water
wash away the differences
as depth of expression
pool in the puddles left behind
both on canvas
and on shore

This poem was inspired by the paint brush drying ceramic plate I made out of air dry clay.

I love to paint on canvas, slapping away at the surface, inspired by nature around me. It is strange, how a surprising metaphor can pop up when immersing yourself in the feelings surrounding an action.

I hope you enjoyed this poem.
